Chem Thaw - Ice Melt is a salt-free compound for melting ice and snow from driveways, walks and stairways. It begins melting immediately, ten times faster than salt, because its 99% active "hot stuff". Will not harm concrete and leaves no residue, when used as directed. This product is the most effective and fastest ice melter known. In order for any de-icer to work, it must turn into solution. It’s this solution that provides the de-icing action, not the solid mineral.

By naturally attracting moisture from the atmosphere, Chem-Thaw quickly turns into a solution. Most other ice-melters must directly contact moisture with is not readily available at freezing temperatures. As this product dissolves, it gives off heat that speeds the de-icing process. Most other products need heat to dissolve. When it comes to Chem-Thaw’s speed, there is no contest. Furthermore, it works effectively at -25 F, whereas rock salt, potassium, chloride, urea and their blends are not very effective below 25F.
